How to assemble a PC (Desktop computer)?

1. At first open the cabinet and fit SMPS in it with screws as shown in the pictures.

2. Now according to need fix some spacers to fit motherboard into the cabinet.

3. Now fix back panel plate into the cabinet.

4. Then install CPU into the motherboard carefully.

5. Then install CPU fan (cooling fan) and connect its power connecter to the fan power on the motherboard

6. Then install RAM into RAM slots.

7. Now fix motherboard into the cabinet carefully with the help of screws and screw driver.

8. Now fit DVD writer and HDD into the cabinet.

9. Now plug in HDD IDE cable/SATA cable connector and power connector and plug in another end of the data cable to the motherboard.

10. Now plug in DVD writer SATA cable connector and power connector to the DVD and plug in another end of the SATA cable to the motherboard SATA slot.

11. Now plug in SMPS Motherboard Power connector to the motherboard.

12. Now plug in CPU voltage connector (4 pin) to the motherboard.

13. Now plug in front panel audio connector to the motherboard.

14. Now plug in front panel USB connector to the motherboard.

15. Now connect front panel Power switch connector, Reset switch, Power LED, HDD LED connector to the motherboard. You may find details near front panel connector that where to connect these connectors.

16. Now plug in PC speaker on the motherboard.

17. Before going further check all the connections. Now close the cabinet and screw it.

18. Now connect keyboard , mouse, monitor, power cable, speaker to the back panel.

20. and you are done.

How to check computer SMPS?

By using following process we can check computer SMPS that whether it is working or not. 
To do so first you need to unplug 20 or 24 pin SMPS connector from the motherobard then plug power cable to the SMPS then switch on the power.Now short green wire with black wire (on 20 or 24 pin SMPS connector) with a small wire or forchef. 

After doing so if SMPS fan start running means SMPS is ok else SMPS is faulty.

RJ -45 LAN port :

It is used to connect computer to the network such as internet or local netowork.

Audio Out

It is of green colour. It is used to connect speakers.

Mic In

It is of pink colour. It is used to connect MIC.

Line In

It is of blue color. It is used for Line In from another devices.

PS2 Mouse :

It is used to connect PS2 mouse.

PS2 Keyboard :

It is used to connect PS2 Keyboard.

VGA Port:

It is 15 pin female connector. It is used to connect monitor to the computer system.

RAM slot:

It is used to attach RAM to the comuter system.

IDE port :

It is 40 pin IDE port. It is used to connect IDE Hard disk and IDE writer to the computer system.

These are used to connect SATA HDD and SATA writer to the computer system.

Motherboard Power Supply Connector

It is 20/24 pin SMPS power connector. It is used to give power supply to ther motherboard from the SMPS.

LPT Port

It is 25 pin female port. It is also known as Line Print Terminal. It is used to connect parallel printer to the computer system.

Power Cable

It is used to give power supply to the SMPS from the power outlet.

FDD Cable

It is 34 pin floppy disk drive cable. It is used to connect floppy drive to the computer system.

IDE Cable:

It has 40 pin female connecotors. It is used to connect IDE Hard Disk and IDE writer to the computer system.

SATA Cable :

It is 7 pin SATA cable. It is used to connect SATA devices to the computer system such as Hard Disk, DVD Writers etc.

Is is attach at the back side of the cabinet.

Backside of the hard disk is shown in the picture. It has 40 pin IDE interface, Jumpers and power connector.

Power Supply SMPS

In computers, special kind of power supplies are used that is SMPS (Swith Mode Power Supply). 

It provides power supply to all the computer components such as motherboard, HDD, FDD, DVD Writer etc. 

It has different types of power connectors. 
4 pin IDE HDD/ IDE Writer power connector.SATA Power Connector,20/24 pin Motherboard Power Supply Connector.
There are two types of SMPS. 

1. AT Power Supply

2. ATX Power Supply

1. AT Power Supply : - 1. AT Power Supply : It is old type power supply. 

Now a days it is not used. It has two 6 pin power connectors. 

While connecting these type of connector to the motherboard, black wire of both of the connectors must be facing with each other.

2. ATX Power Supply:- 2. ATX power supply : A 20/24 pin connectors are used in such kind of power supplies.
